“I wasn’t ready to stop asking questions.”

MY STORY · THE WOMAN BEHIND THE BOOK

My fertility journey
began at 42.

When I finally began to consider becoming a mother, I felt that the conversation was already over before I had a chance to ask my questions.

A brief consultation. A quick look at my numbers. A sympathetic expression. I left feeling that my age had become my entire story, and that my choices had narrowed to giving up, donor eggs, or an expensive attempt at IVF.

What about those of us who hadn’t planned on motherhood in our twenties or thirties? Those of us who had never thought to freeze our eggs?

A scientist’s need to understand

I am a chemical engineer, a scientist, and deeply persistent. Understanding how things work is part of who I am. I wasn’t ready to stop asking questions.

I began researching hormone monitoring, egg quality, mitochondrial biology, and the information behind fertility decisions. I wanted to understand what a single test could tell me—and what questions it left unanswered.

Why I wrote this book

That search became 5 Steps to Optimize Your Fertility with Your Own Eggs at 40+. I wrote the guide I wished I had when I started: a way to explore the biology, make sense of the questions, and take a more informed role in conversations about my care.

This is my personal experience and the perspective behind the book. It is not a promise of pregnancy or a claim that every fertility challenge can be resolved through “optimization.” I write as a scientist and author, not a physician.
